It’s a perfect destination for nature lovers. Located in the Northeast corner of Palakkad district in Kerala, India. Silent Valley national park was named a National Park only in 1984. Core area of 89.52 km2 (34.56 sq mi). It is surrounded by a buffer zone of 148 km2 (57 sq mi) total area of 237.52 Km2. This national park has many rare species of fauna and flora.

Silent Valley National Park Palakkad is one of the areas of virgin tropical evergreen rain forest in Kerala – India and is home to several species of animals and plants that are found nowhere else in the world, especially Lion-tailed macaque.

The park is a biodiversity hotspot and is home to over 1,000+ species of flowering plants, 128+ species of orchids, and 34+ species of mammals.


The park is known for its scenic beauty with lush green forests, rolling hills, grasslands, and sparkling streams that attract visitors from all over the world.


The park is open to visitors from 8 AM to 1 PM every day from the Mukkali check post, and entry is restricted to a limited number of visitors to minimize the impact on the park’s ecosystem organized by the Kerala forest department.
